January 23, 2004: GOST-R SEMINAR

ORGANIZERS

The seminar is organized at the sponsorship of the Trade Representation of the Russian Federation in the USA; ROSTEST of Gosstandart, Russia; and with the participation of BISNIS of the US Department of Commerce.

The organizers are the Russian Standard, Ltd., a New York - based corporation who are the General Representatives for North America of ROSTEST - the key Russian Authority for certification.

OBJECTIVE

The objective of this first GOST-R Seminar in the USA is easier, faster and cheaper export of American products in Russia.

The top experts of the Russian State Committee for Standardization and Metrology (Gosstandart) will arrive to Washington, DC to advise American exporters to Russia on the current Russian regulations, explain what is subject to mandatory certification and what not, outline the easiest procedures and point out the hassle-free shipment of your specific products or services to Russia.

TENTATIVE PROGRAM

(shall be modified in compliance with the feedback).

  • Review of the current GOSSTANDART system
  • Active Russian laws and technical regulations pertaining to the certification of goods and services
  • Certification options
  • Certification of manufactured consumer and commercial goods (e.g. home appliances, computers, electronics, etc.
  • Certification of industrial products and equipment
  • Certification of foodstuffs and food raw materials
  • Certification of Services
  • Certification of quality systems
  • Hygienic Certificates from the Russian Health Ministry
  • Customs Regulations

The agenda may cover such areas as:

  • Pre-shipment/acceptance inspection of dispatched/arrived lots of imported goods (shipments) for quantity, quality, packaging, marking and protective writings;
  • Sampling requirements and options;
  • Inspection of merchandise before shipment, during shipment and in storage;
  • Quality control of the manufacturing process, including raw materials and spare parts at all stages of production and processing;
  • Certification of goods (services), quality surveying, certification of specialists; certification in other FSU countries;
  • Finding the optimal and most cost-effective certification solution
